Blue Ridge Numerics

The Home of Upfront CFD

CFdesign® is the leading fluid flow, heat transfer, and electronics cooling simulation tool for MCAD-centric product design teams using Pro/ENGINEER.

First launched in 1992, this innovative digital prototyping technology has been successfully used on thousands of complex product designs in hundreds of industries around the world.

By focusing on the needs of profit-driven product engineering companies and eliminating the bottlenecks and barriers found in traditional CFD packages (CFdesign ROI), Blue Ridge Numerics has become one of the 500 fastest growing companies in America and the fastest growing CFD software company in the world.

CFdesign For Pro/ENGINEER (Pro/E)

Parametric Integration

CFdesign Upfront CFD software is a high-powered engineering simulation tool created for product development teams using Pro/ENGINEER or Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.

The software features a parametric relationship with component geometry and assemblies, and automatically applies the optimal mesh required for accurate simulations. Make a design change in Pro/ENGINEER and see the change immediately in CFdesign.

Ease of Use

No special skills or hardware are needed. After attending our two day training class you’ll be ready to start running simulations on product models at your desktop.

Applying flow regimes such as forced, natural and mixed convection to your product design is fast and simple. External and internal fans with axial or centrifugal configurations are available as standard object types. Setting up steady state or transient simulations just require a few mouse clicks. Full-featured heat transfer capabilities include conduction, convection, and radiation, as well as conjugate heat transfer.

Four Simple Steps

Step One: Develop a product design in Pro/E and launch the model into CFdesign directly through the Pro/E interface.
Step Two: Input material properties, assign operating conditions and specify mesh sizes.
Step Three: Hit “GO”. The software does the rest. CFdesign’s dynamic and interactive display shows the progress of the simulation.
Step Four: Evaluate product performance using CFdesign’s powerful visualization tools, including the Design Review Center and Design Communication Center.

CFdesign allows you to analyze and optimize the design, placement, and performance of critical components and systems like hydraulics, pneumatics, valves, blowers, fans, pumps, compressors, heatsinks, heat exchangers, cooling fans, power supplies, manifolds, HVAC components, motors, turbomachinery, even entire electronics systems all while on the “digital drawing board”.

CFdesign reliably simulates a broad range of fluid flow and heat transfer scenarios (check out our Applications section for details). Highly automated functionality and built-in intelligence guide the user, making CFdesign an ideal desktop tool for beginners and advanced users.
